The Last Wish streaming? Release explained
Did you ever forget those doe eyes after seeing Shrek 2? The sequel to the popular Dreamworks movie was released in 2004 and audiences were treated to a wealth of new characters that have since been established as favorites of the franchise. Puss in Boots was undoubtedly one of them, with Antonio Banderas voicing the cool and collected feline to perfection.
He was welcomed with open arms by the fandom so much, in fact, that Dreamworks unveiled a spin-off movie in 2011.
It was celebrated and viewers were hopeful for a sequel. Sure, it’s come a decade later, but better late than never, right?
Directed by Joel Crawford, it’s proven to be one of the most acclaimed animated movies in recent memory, adored by critics and general audiences alike.

‘But then here we are’
Antonio was recently interviewed by Collider and was asked, with it being so long since the first Puss In Boots, if he doubted a sequel would get made:
“At some point, yeah. At some point in which I lost contact for maybe a couple of years, but I knew that the studio operated big changes, because it moved to another studio, actually, to Universal. And at the same time, the pandemic came on, so there was a number of things that were going on at the same time.”
He continued: “… I thought, ‘Oh, well, maybe they’re just rethinking,’ because this new panorama that they had in front of them, they are thinking, ‘It’s something completely new.’ They didn’t want to revisit things that they have done in the past, something like that. So yes, at some point, I thought about it, but then here we are.”
Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is now streaming as a rental or purchase on Amazon Video in the US.
