Talk with illustrator Marcus Williams at BHC-QC campus
Fans of comic books and graphic novels won’t want to miss an interactive talk and celebration of Black History Month at Black Hawk College, Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Avenue in Moline, with illustrator Marcus Williams. Williams is co-creator of the comic book series, “Tuskegee Heirs – Flames of Destiny” and creator of “The Super Natural Woman.”
The first session of the program will be held on Thursday, February 15 from 9-11 a.m. in Building 1, room 308. A second session will be from 12-1 p.m. in Building 4, room 124. Visitor parking is available between Building 1 and Building 4.
Williams will discuss his journey from an aspiring artist to getting his first official art job drawing the PowerPuff Girls for Cartoon Network. He’ll cover how his freelance illustration work let him to work with Marvel, Sony Pictures Animation, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon and Amazon. This eventually led to co-creating his own comic series, “Tuskegee Heirs – Flames of Destiny.” Attendees can help create a new original character live as Williams draws on screen, taking suggestions from the audience and incorporating them into the work. He’ll also speak about the foundational basics of digital art tools, such as layers, undo/redo, resizing and coloring.
