On Sunday 4 April, the alleged victim of Yaya’s stabbing took to her Twitter account to commemorate one year of the incident.

On April 4, 2020, Yaya and Lapattra got into an argument when the former went to the home of her then-boyfriend NBA Youngboys in Houston, Texas. The discussion continued in the kitchen and at one point things got worse when Dadi grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed Lapattra twice in the arms.

Lapattra was taken to a local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. About two weeks later, Lapattra was re-admitted to the hospital, reportedly due to stabbing complications.

Yaya was arrested and jailed in Harris County, Texas, following the stabbing incident, but was released shortly after posting a $30,000 bond.

In the filing, the Harris County District Attorney alleged that Yaya “unlawfully, knowingly, and knowingly inflicted bodily injury to LaPatra Jacobs…”. The case is still pending.
