How to Get The Smite of Merain (& God Roll) in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 brought back the King’s Fall raid in its newest Season (Season of Plunder), including old King’s Fall raid weapons like the pulse rifle Smite of Merain. These new raid weapons look just like their old, calcified bone origins in Destiny 1. But in Destiny 2 their perks have been updated to empower them in the current season.

Smite of Merian is a 390 RPM Kinetic Pulse Rifle sporting an adaptive frame. This bony friend from the past is a well-rounded weapon with several good perk combinations. This weapon also has the perk of being craftable. Weapon crafting was introduced in the Destiny 2 Expansion Witch Queen giving guardians the ability to customize their weapon perks. If a Guardian grinds out five red-bordered (deep-sighted) weapons, then after leveling it up any desired perk can be picked including enhanced versions.

Smite of Merain can drop from the War Priest encounter, the Sisters encounter, and the final encounter against Oryx in the King’s Fall raid. The encounter against Oryx can drop any of the raid weapons and the Touch of Malice exotic in Destiny 2. If Guardians only want Smite of Merain then farming the War Priest encounter is the way to go because of its smaller loot pool compared to the Oryx and the Sisters encounters. King’s Fall in Destiny 2 is a legacy raid free to all players but obtaining a crafted version of Smite of Merain will require the Witch Queen expansion and for the player to have unlocked weapon crafting.

How to Get the God Roll for Smite of Merain

The God Roll for Smite of Merain is Arrowhead Break, Tactical Mag, Demolitionist, Adrenaline Junkie, and any masterwork. The first perk Arrowhead Break can be swapped to Corkscrew Rifling or Chamber Compensator depending on preference. But Arrowhead Break increases the handling and recoil giving Smite of Merain less bounce and tighter control, perfect for a primary weapon.

Tactical Mag gives an all-rounded bonus between magazine size, reload speed, and stability. Smite of Merain is already a well-rounded pulse and Tactical Mag adds on top of that. Other weapon perks of the second column like Accurized Rounds (+10 to range) and Appended Mag (+6 to magazine) work as well. Similar pulse rifles like the New Purpose God Roll in Destiny 2 opt for Appended Map for PVE activities. Like the first weapon perk column, this perk can be swapped to taste.

Demolitionist grants grenade energy on final blows which synergize with Adrenaline Junkie that gives a stacking and refreshing bonus weapon damage and stability from weapon and grenade kills. Focused Fury is also a great choice. This perk gives bonus damage if half of the magazine dealt precision damage. Demolitionist wins out because of how useful grenades are for clearing ads and the various grenade mods available to Guardians.

Adrenaline Junkie as the final perk is dependent on Demolitionist. Getting a grenade kill with this perk gives the maximum stacks of bonus damage and stability from this perk. The bonus lasts about 4.5 seconds, but he can be refreshed with more kills. One for All grants a longer and slightly stronger, albeit non-refreshing, damage buff after hitting three separate targets. Several powerful pulse rifles in Destiny 2 also pick Demolitionist or One for All depending on the activities. Vorpal weapon is also an option, but it is the weakest damage buffing perk in this column and the bonus only applies to bosses and mini-bosses. Firefly is also an option that causes an explosion on a precision kill. The explosion is fun and deals increased damage in a small radius. This final perk depends on the preferred playstyle above all else.

Smite of Merain returns as a powerful kinetic pulse rifle. It can first be obtained in the War Priest encounter in Destiny 2‘s King’s Fall Raid. Guardians that faced the King’s Fall raid in the past will appreciate this old favorite returning. This is an excellent choice for a kinetic primary weapon for both PVE and PVP content in Destiny 2.
