Before getting started please note there is very little reason to reset an Element bulb.
You would only want to reset an Element bulb that is not working as intended or is having difficult adding to your hub.
Do not reset Element bulbs that are working as intended. When a bulb is reset, it will be reset to factory; this means it will forget the hub to which it was associated.
In order to pair Element bulbs that have fallen out of pairing mode, they must be placed on a standard ON/OFF toggle switch like a bathroom vanity fixture or a power strip. A turn style lamp will not work. It must then be turned on and off AT LEAST 10 times, VERY quickly, ending on the ON position. An on and off cycle counts as 1.
Therefore:
On/Off 1
On/Off 2
On/Off 3
etc.
If done correctly the bulb will flash five times, and then it is in pairing mode.
Once the bulbs flash please turn them off to preserve their pairing mode.
If the bulb does not flash, you will have to try again.
Do not turn the bulbs on again until instructed in your app.
Note: These instructions do not apply to Element Touch bulbs, which have a button on the side of the bulb. To learn how to reset these bulbs, please consult the How do I reset the Sengled Smart LED With Touch Control (Element Touch) bulb? article.
First, there is very little reason to reset a hub.
Resetting a hub will reset it back to factory.
This means the hub will forget the WiFi to which it was connected.
Thus, in order for it to work, it will need to be setup like a new hub from the Sengled Home app.
If your hub is offline and you have not reset it, try the following:
- Unplug the power cord from the hub, wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the hub
- Move the hub closer to your router
- Connect the hub to your router with an Ethernet cord
The only reasons to reset a hub are under one of the following conditions:
1) If you have a new ISP (Internet Service Provider)
2) If you have a new router
3) If you moved to a new residence
4) If you change the name or password for your WiFi
5) If you want to move the hub to a different account
6) If the hub is offline after a power outage or internet outage and it did not come back online after the following was done: the hub’s power cord was removed, the hub was allowed to be unplugged for at least 60 seconds, the power cord was plugged back into the hub and the hub was allowed to power on and reconnect to the internet for at least 90 seconds.
7) If you reset the hub previously by pressing and holding the reset button until the middle indicator light flashed 8 times.
8) If a member of the Sengled Support Team has recommended it in order to troubleshoot your hub
Resetting the hub will disassociate it from your WiFi and account. The hub would have to be deleted from the account as part of what is needed to get your hub added back to your account.
Note: Once the hub has been deleted, the bulbs will still be associated with the hub as long as the bulbs were not deleted from the app or reset by turning them off/on ten times to make the bulbs flash five times.
Deleting the hub does not remove the bulbs from the hub.
After the hub is deleted, you will not be able to control any of the devices that are associated with your hub until the hub has been reset and setup with the Sengled Home app.
To reset your hub and add it to your router, please follow the instructions in this article.

Well this looks simple.
But it isn’t, so far.
I follow all the steps, but the lamp goes green, NOT red/green.
The app on my phone cant find the smartthings hub
I have tried plugging the smartthings hub into everything I have (box from isp, back of existing wifi, you name it)
Quite frustrating that I cannot access the smartthings hub in any way.
What is the path forward?

Son of a female dog, I may have figured it out!
Physically factory reset SmartThings Wifi
- Insert a pin or a similar tool into the RESET hole, located on the back of the Hub, and then remove the tool when the LED on the front goes dark (approximately 10 seconds).
- The LED will turn off and the Hub will reboot. When the LED blinks red and green, the Hub is ready to connect again.

I have EXACTLY the same issue.
On one of the units, the first one, after doing every kind of reset (factory reset, plain reset), I think it spent 30 minutes updating its firmware, and it FINALLY went red/green
It took a few hours to get it to that point.
Now I am trying to set up unit #2, but I can’t get it to red/green. I can get it to green flash, I can get it to red, but not to red/green
These things are SOOOO promising, but they are a realy pain to set up.
And there is a total lack of detail in the box and on line. All the threads from weeks/months past have Samsunc saing to call in.
Wait. the unit I want is now flashing red. but what does that mean? No idea!
