Bryce Simon Obituary – Car Accident: In loving memory of Hampshire High school student killed in Pingree Grove car accident.

A 16-year-old from Gilberts was killed in a crash that happened in Pingree Grove on Thursday night.

Bryce Simon, 16, one of the two victims taken to hospital, died at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to a report released by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday.

A press statement issued by the Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District states that at around 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, there was a two-vehicle collision on Route 72 east of Reinking Road, requiring the dispatch of emergency personnel. According to officials, one vehicle contained two trapped victims, while the other vehicle had an ejected occupant.

According to that announcement, firefighters “had to roll up the dashboard” in addition to removing the roof and doors in order to extract victims from the first vehicle.

According to a Pingree Grove Police Department social media post, the drivers of both vehicles were flown by air ambulance, and one passenger was taken by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police report stated that preliminary inquiry revealed the driver of a pickup truck was going east on Route 72 at a high speed when he lost control, drove into the westbound lanes, and collided head-on with a car.

Pingree Grove police are receiving assistance with their investigation from the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
