The rapid change in health care technology is a challenge to health care providers. Effectively adapting to change is not only the responsibility of the IT department, it also requires each employee to stay current with technology options. Does this mean reading every tech book or magazine that you can get your hands on? No, but it does require that staff approach changes in technology with an open mind and a willingness to adopt new (and often more efficient) practices!

Whether change comes in the form of new hardware or new software (or a combination of the two!), t he challenge is to help each individual successfully navigate the process.

How to Adapt to Change

  • L ook at the changes positively. Can staff anticipate time-savings? an increase in efficiency? How might the proposed change be framed in a positive light?
  • Understand that change is inevitable. Our choice is in how we address the challenge!
  • Get Training. Register for our software training here. Knowledge = power!
  • Take the time to become familiar with the technology. Plan that it may take additional time or resources for the first few days. Staff accordingly!
  • Begin using the new technology and sharpening your skills. Assisting coworkers by teaching others what you have learned. This reinforces your own understanding and creates strong teamwork.
  • Get to know and fully utilize your IT specialist! They should be available and a valuable asset in any transition.
